Everyone seems to have a long list of resolutions to check off this year. From fitness to finances to healthy eating, the lists can seem long and unattainable. Although we’re supposed to treat 2026 like a fresh start, it can be hard for moms to get out of their slump, especially after the whirlwind of the holidays. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or discouraged right now, you aren’t alone!
Ringing in the new year can be especially challenging for mothers. It can feel disconnecting or exhausting to even think about what’s to come. Don’t be afraid to take a moment for yourself and process your feelings.
If you’re looking to make a resolution, but you aren’t sure where to start, don’t panic! Here are some ideas for resolutions that will benefit your wellness and won’t take hours out of your day:
Spend 15 minutes outdoors every day and take in the fresh air. Connect with nature to connect with yourself.
Take one hour to yourself every week. Meet up with some friends, take yourself on a solo date, or simply lounge around your house. Whatever brings you joy!
Start asking for help when you need it. Even the smallest acts can take a huge weight off your shoulders.
Check in with your community whenever possible. It takes a village!
Take 10 minutes to journal your thoughts and feelings when you find a break in the day. Processing what you feel on the inside can make it easier to deal with on the outside.
Remember: it is more than okay to start small. Learning how to balance motherhood and self-care isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon. Little changes add up to big results!
It is also important to remember that even if you abandon your resolutions a few days in, you are still doing a great job. Don’t be too harsh on yourself!
You may decide that you want to revisit your goals at a later date, so don’t feel like you’ve missed your opportunity. Motherhood and life are not linear, so move forward when the time feels right for YOU.
It is never too late to start over for the better.
No matter how you plan to tackle 2026, don’t go through the year alone! Our team is here to help you face all of the challenges that life as a mother may bring.
