Spring Cleaning: Setting Yourself Up for Future Wins

"Your mind is a garden. Your thoughts are seeds. You can

grow flowers… or weeds”. — Unknown.

The past few months may have been especially tough. As we defrost from the long winter, take a moment to recognize yourself for pushing through. It may have been hard, but you did it, and that is something to celebrate!

Let’s use this brand new season as an avenue for a complete reset. Spring cleaning can apply to more than your home. Your physical state, mindset, relationships, and habits may all need a refresh every once in a while, and there’s no time like the present.

If you want to do a hard reset of your space, but aren’t sure where to start, here are some tips to help you out:

  • Recognize that decluttering and deep cleaning are two separate tasks. Don’t try to tackle both at once; declutter first, deep clean second.

  • Divide your spaces into smaller sections. It can be overwhelming to try to do everything at once.

  • Dedicate yourself to one area at a time, and set a 30-minute timer. Do what you can there. It may take a while to get through it all, but remember: slow progress is better than no progress.

  • Make it fun! Play music, get the family involved, and make a game out of it! Just because you’re cleaning doesn’t mean it has to be miserable.

Think of your spring reset as the planting of a garden. It may be hard work, but when it’s done, the beautiful blooms will be worth your while.

This can also be used as a wonderful opportunity to connect with your circle. There’s no rule that says you have to reset alone. Invite over a friend and tackle a section together while the kids play. Two heads are better than one!

Remember to move at your own pace. It’s okay if your spring reset lasts until next week, next month, or even the summer to get done. The only timeline that matters is yours, so don’t let anyone disrupt it.

Spring is all about new beginnings and creating an environment that allows you to be the best person and mother you can be, on the inside and the outside. You should be very proud of yourself for pushing through the trials and tribulations that led up to where you are now. It’s only up from here!
